Justice Carlos R. Moreno (Ret.) is a distinguished former jurist in California. For over twenty-five years Justice Moreno served at all levels of the state and federal judicial systems in California, including four years as a federal district court judge and ten years as a justice on the California Supreme Court. Most recently, he served as United States Ambassador to Belize under appointment by President Barack Obama.
Justice Moreno is well-versed in both trial and appellate practice. He has presided over 300 jury trials and 1000 appellate arguments with a wide portfolio of current and precedent-setting commercial matters, including class actions, intellectual property, civil rights, insurance coverage, and arbitration.
Prior to his appointment to the bench Justice Moreno practiced in the private sector for over 10 years with the law firms of Kelley Drye & Warren and Irell & Manella.
He is a graduate of Yale College and Stanford Law School and the recipient of numerous legal and community-based awards in recognition of his distinguished service.
