Matthew co-founded Vannin Capital in 2010 and is currently a Director. He has responsibility, together with the other members of the Board, for strategic management of the business, with a particular focus on origination, review of cases, and ongoing risk management, underwriting and monitoring.

He was one of the first people to recognise the potential for the dispute resolution funding market in the UK and has developed deep industry expertise building the business from a start-up to one with over £100 million of available investment capital and billions of quantum under management.

Matthew is a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales (non-practising). Prior to co-founding Vannin Capital, he acquired law firm Bowermans LLP and turned it into a respected corporate boutique, employeeing the subsequent merger with larger firm Bridgehouse Partners LLP. His practice focussed on corporate and commercial transactional work and, in particular, on acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, offshore corporate structuring and corporate finance.

Notable engagements while he was in private practice include advising a employeeing data centre company on the continuing development, construction and financing of its UK data centres (including a £200 million refinancing and £80 million share issue) and the acquisition by an offshore investment company of two renewable energy power stations.

The Vannin Approach
