Sir Stephen Silber is a member of Vannin Capital's Funding Committee. He has more than 40 years’ experience within the legal profession. Between 1999 and 2014, Stephen was a High Court Judge in the Queen's Bench and Chancery Divisions, during which time he sat in the Court of Appeal in its Criminal Division and occasionally in its Civil Division as well as the Administrative Court dealing with a wide range of cases including regulatory cases. He was a member of the Employment Appeal Tribunal (2004 to 2014).
Prior to this, Stephen was a Law Commissioner for England and Wales for five years and was responsible for extensive law reform. In addition, he held the position of Deputy High Court Judge (1995 to 1999) and Recorder of the Crown Court (1987 to 1999).
Stephen was called to the Bar in 1968 and was a member of what is now 3 Verulam Buildings until 1994, having been appointed a QC in 1987.
Stephen also holds a number of other senior positions including Treasurer of Gray's Inn, a member of the Advisory Council of Oxford Institute of European and Comparative Law at Oxford University, a Distinguished Judicial Member of University College, London, and Vice-President of the Security Vetting Appeal Tribunal. Stephen will also act as a Mediator and Arbitrator.
