Chair City Truckers
![]() |
Chair City Truckers was established in 1979. Chair City’s theme was the "Super Club Competition". We encouraged club participation in various vanner games and competitions. In the early ‘80s, New England van runs were happening every weekend.
We held our first van run in 1981 at the Templeton Fish & Gun Club in Templeton, MA. At that time, we had about 30 trucks in the club. We had one more van run in 1982 at the Templeton Fish & Gun with about 45 trucks in attendance.
In 1983, our van run was held at the Winchendon Rod & Gun in Winchendon, MA and held our first "Show & Shine". About 75 vans were in attendance.
In 1984 we mvoed once again to the Gardner Fish & Gun Club in Gardner, MA and attendance was about 150 vans and trucks. Though support for the run was rising, the club members enthusiasm was waning. In 1986, with falling membership, the club put on the July 4th celebration, admission-FREE.
Athough smaller, with four members, Chair City is still an active name in both the New England Van Council and at numerous truck-ins all summer long.
