My first thought would be check the coolant temp sensor. Might be reading improperly and causing a lean running condition until the motor warms up.
|

Also, be sure to check the bushings in the control arms. Those Fords are known for front end problems with those long arms mounted to the opposite side of the truck. The bushings can wear out.

Just to back up Wookie's post.... Did you test for power at the brake switch? Take a standard test light and poke it into the back of the plug, one side at a time. One wire should have power all the time. If not, it's a power issue. The other should
