I'm lookin at a 78 dodge or plymouth prospector van here, 318, auto with power windows. nice body...needs a bit of engine work.
Guy wants a whoppin $150.00 for it. He said he was driving one day and van shut off like you cut the switch off. Sounds like a nice winter project. Hope my chevy shorty don't get jealous. I'll keep yall informed...BigJim

Sounds like the ballast resistor blew. A five minute and $2 fix. Go for it!

Yep Anne I walked right into a good deal. I am buying the dodge prospector on friday. I'll rebuild the carb and check out the ballast resistor then go from there. Will have a dodge back in the family...BigJim

Hey Jim, go wih the ballist resister first. It's seriously a 5 minute job. You might not have to do anything to the carb.

oh by the way its a 78 not a 86, I got the title today and checked the vin
guy didn't know what year van he had. yep gonna check the ballast resistor first...

Does it crank? If so hold the kry to the start position...if it runs there and shuts off with the key in the run position...Ballast Resistor!!!!...nice deal, anyhow...good luck!
