I forgot to mention in the 80's or early 90's when our van was painted the guy used micro sequins instead of metal flake (I think that is what he called them) anyone heard of that?

Israel - I am not sure I know about micro sequins. I know they call the smaller metalflake micro. There are a lot of cool paint additives though. I just have my mind set on a certain look that I hope they can acheive.

I checked the van out today. The color is really cool. That was a good choice for sure. The first pic is of the roof which has been cleared already. Overall it looks good so far but there is some noticeable uneven areas. You can see it the most along the sides of the van. I might not be super obvious in the photos but look at the last photo. The painter says they will sand it with 1200 and put another coat of base to even it out. Should I be worried? I guess they should have used a tinted sealer instead of the white?

Don't worry. Once the wet sanding and buffing is done, it should look good if he re-shoots it. It's hard to paint those large surfaces.

Also remember top top has the clear in place.
From the pics it looks like the lower body it is still just the base coat.
Once it is cleared that color will literally come alive.....

All the vans I've painted I always do the roof first.Let it cure,cover it and then shoot the bottom panels of the van.
It is just way too much area to try to cover all at once.....
