Hi all...I'm moving into the next phase of my project and have found out that the roof vent placement on my new van is about 1ft different than my old van. This means that my storage up there needs to change. I have a cargo box and I need to now move it forward. I was hoping to mount it directly to the top with 3m super tape BUT there are very few contact points. I don't want to drill all the way into the camper to bolt through....

Sorry...no pics just yet

Also...anyone know if there is a cure for a leaky triangle window without replacing the weatherseal? the leak is so small...but it's there.

Tri-Angle window? Ummn vent window on the door? I have seen guys use 1/4 x 1/4 inch sticky foam weather stripping before with good results, No thicker than 1/4 inch or it will stress your mounting points too much and may break the frame work. . . .

3m VHB tape is good stuff, but I don't think I would trust it for a cargo carrier at highway speeds. If you don't have enough connection/contact points, it is out anyway.

You are stuck with mechanical fasteners.

Use Stainless steel nuts and bolts with large washers to spread the load. Put a large dab of Dicor sealant under the washers.

yeah that was the tape I was thinking. Ok, what about a combo of the tape and limited fasteners that only penetrate the fiberglass top?

I know nothing of it's strength. Would a stud finder find the wood subframe? I don't have one but could get one.

Next thought..what about VHB'ing square tubing to the roof and then drilling into that? it would provide much more vhb contact (the width of the carrier

vhb marine board to the roof and then drill into it?

sorry for the barrage

Here is the space I am working with. On the back left in front of the rack bar. I think i am going to vhb and then screw it into the aluminum siderail.
