Ok: I have been calling myself a Van-Promoter for yrs now. I'm not into the money of it all like Dean Moore. (If u know who is Dean Moore is? go Back 35 yrs. ) I'm a Van-Promoter promoting vans and our Sport,hobby,etc. I have gotten e-mailed to STOP Using the word Promoter because 2% vanners will not support what I'm trying to do here. I've been contacting a number of publications ,TV, Etc. using this method of Van Promoter to get there attention and it seems to work. I can say I'm a vanner but this doesn't always work. They say that vanners that remember the Dean moore act where he took all vanners money from a van Jam, were he should have put right back into vanning. (Bad Egg). I was told to keep doing what I'm doing by other vanners. I'm Not Dean Moore

I dont care what you call yourself, if you are doing it to "Support Our Sport" then do it, thank you for all you have done and will do in the future.

Vanning isnt what it use to be 35years ago and we all have to do a little more promoting, supporting, and attending to get it back.

There are phrases of "Promoting our Sport" or being a "Promoter of our Sport". Sometimes the definition is the problem. You are promoting our sport. As a Promoter you would be in it for the profit. That is not the case in what you do Todd. While you label yourself as a Promoter, you do not do so for the "Profit" in the usual sense. You do it for the profit of enhancing our support. Educating others about our sport, etc. So keep on being a Van Promoter. In a way, we are all Promoting our sport every time we take our vans for a ride or show up at a show. For the love of it.

I agree with Wizard--we know you are not Dean Moore and it is a shame that the dirty deeds of people like Dean and yes, even Fred, all these years later are still hanging over us.

Sure the things that happened in the Fred days are what made us what we are today--then Dean found us and a way he thought to make a quick buck. The problem with those guys is that they also brought in 'sponsors.' Sponsors pay big bucks to get their name slammed on everything--the flyers, the patches, the bandstand, the dash plaques, all things you stuff into your VAN and take home and all things you will need during the week. That is where the promoters make their money. That and outrageous prices for simple things, like ice.

None of that is what you are doing Todd, but it may help to add another little 'word' or 'phrase' to get across that you are doing this all out of the goodness of your love of the VAN.

I'm the bad guy who keeps busting Todd's chops for calling himself a promoter.
Todd in fact is the polar opposite of a promoter, he gives, gives,gives and takes nothing in return except maybe the satisfaction that he's helping to keep our favorite pastime thriving.
Regardless of what you want to call yourself, keep doing what you do and I'll always be there to support whatever it is as long as I'm able. Your selfless contribution to vanning has been huge !

Thanks to everyone who has posted. Now we need to find a better name for Todd to call himself. I think we all agree that promoter doesn't quite fit.
