If you don't mind me asking. What did they charge to balance it? Glad you didn't need a new one because it would have been a big hit to the summer budget. Whew! They did a full inspection, Whatever else they needed to do to get it balanced, And even gave it a coat of rust buster primer. $ 48.00 out the door.

Charlie...hope that is indeed the problem and not a broke belt in a tire or bent rim or something.... Are you trying to jinx me?! Me too buddy, but I'm pretty good a discerning the difference between a wheel vibration, and a driveline vibration. Actually now that you mention it, the tires are 5 years old now. I guess it couldn't hurt to have the wheels balanced as well.

I love it when a plan comes together! I had just enough time to do the pick-up. Get back home and put 2 coats of flat black paint on the driveshaft. Got it installed, greased the U joints, put the tools away, got the van back down on the ground. And then it rained! We have some major thunderstorms rolling through this afternoon. The test drive will have to wait until tomorrow....

I took my van out for a test drive this morning. I'm very happy with the results! The van rides soooo much smoother! I would call it a 90 percent improvement. There is still a slight vibration from around 50 to 60 mph. But from 65 to 100 mph, it's smooth as glass! I think before my next long haul I'll balance the wheels, then I should be good for vannin' season
