My Q-bond arrived in the mail today. Monday is my next day off, will tackle the console then. Been looking at other plastic trim pieces inside that need attention as well. I'll find out if Uncle Fester is right. Been looking Q-bond up on the web. Like what I see. My buddy Pat who built vans for a living in the day says I should trash the plastic piece and if I just HAVE to have a console, build one from wood. I'm sticking to the plan and fixing the one I have. Wish me luck gang.

GOOD LUCK ! You won't need it as I have NO DOUBT you will be happy with it. I would add a few drops between the separated parts and press them together, then turn it over and do the powder fill in from behind. I am sure it will work good. Keep us posted.

JB weld is Junk. I have so many people bring me stuff they tried to fix with JB weld I charge extra to clean it up before I can fix it with the right stuff. I do weld for a living for probably over forty years now and I get so pissed if someone brings me something with that junk in there... Basically like a John boats, to weld a few rivits that leak, intakes or blocks or exhaust manifolds ....God, the mear mention of JB WELD just set's me off...Sorry. Investigate and always use the right stuff , for metal ...weld it,,,, for plastic bond it with a comparable bonding agent. Never use JBWELD... EVER !!!

Tell us how you REALLY FEEL about JB WELD Phoenix ! lol I have to agree, it MIGHT be ok for short term EMERGENCY repair, but nothing more, and only if you are gonna throw the broken/repaired part away when you get home.

Believe me...JB Weld is NOT even on my list of possible fixes for anything. Have tried it a few times over the years for quick fixes and was always let down. Know a few that swear by the stuff...they can have it. Have the Q-bond that Uncle fester recommended. Will be fixing my panel and maybe try it on some other stuff today. Also may try it on my wife's car. The glass for her convertible top is coming loose at the bottom where the glass meets the material.

Uncle Fester was right. The Q-bond worked great! The plastic overhead console is now fixed. Just need to paint and recover the 4 panels. http://s1175.photobucket.com/albums/r639/mlarky1957/?action=view&current=IMG_2590.jpg
There was one long wide crack that was a bit of a challenge, but I managed to get it sealed. I'm still going over a couple of ways to add support to it so there (hopefully) won't be any more cracks. Still need to figure out how to mount the CB radio in the thing, and a few switches. First of course run the wires for functions, and after I decide which CB antenna to use ( budget will also be a factor...), run that cable. But I am one big step closer. Thanks for the Q-bond recommendation Fester! Now I will need to tackle some other trim piece repairs.

As for the wife's convertible glass re-glueing, I made several calls to upholstery shops. None wanted to give advice other than quote a repair fee. One even said I would need a whole new top without even seeing the car...$2500? Yikes!! I finally called a body shop I had worked with, and he told me exactly how to fix it. He sold me a tube of 3M windshield adhesive and it worked great. I am now my wife's hero again. smile

I had a crack in the lifter valley of a 390FE engine in my '63 mercury that was spraying coolant onto my cam. Ground out the crack a little bit with a carbide burr and filled the gouge with JB Weld. Engine ran for another several years without issue smile *shrugs* I think JB Weld is ok in some instances, lol. Just has to be the right application of the stuff.
