Nice Ford sir! Very clean! Did you have to do any freshening up?

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys.

To try and answer some questions/comments:

“I see you have barn doors on the side; I ordered mine with the barn door instead of the sliding door.”

I think he ordered the “barn” doors so he could run the wide flairs. Also, he wanted the extra storage (see pics below). He was very detail oriented (a general contractor and architect by trade), so I am sure he thought of every detail before he placed the order.

“Did you have to do any freshening up?”

This thing is a time capsule of a 1983 Econoline. The dash & steering wheel are perfect, and the rest of it has a nice 30 year old patina, but is almost exactly the way it was in the early 1980’s. I cleaned the interior, and waxed the outside, put some new tires on (the old ones were BFG “sport truck radials”), and changed all the fluids, and I was on the road. I think the brakes are even still original (and work like they did in ‘83). Uncle Billy put in a new radiator, water pump, and new hoses & belts about 8 years ago, and that was all still in good shape, so I left it. As noted above, though, I added a 4 barrel & intake (the two barrel was gummed up, and I had to hotrod something!), and replaced the whole ignition. I also added two new batteries.

I’m usually at Thompson, Quaker City, or Norwalk with it. In fact, I am going to the Steel Valley Supernats, at Quaker, at the end of June, for those that wish to see in person. I also hang out in downtown G’ville, for summer fest and the car shows, and I usually take this.

I tried my best for the pics, but the droid wasn’t really cooperating. The interior looks much better in person.

Overhead console, with Alpine cassette deck, equalizer, and switch panel. State of the art for 1983…

Front door panel, and back door panels, with storage, and a “vanity” shelf, complete with cig lighter/12 volt outlet for coffee maker, hair dryer, whatever…

The bed & under bed storage (pull out drawers), also note the speakers in the rear console, and yet more storage in the cabinet…

More under bead storage, from the back. Perfect for all the “dirty” junk and firewood. The big carpeted box on the right houses the spare tire…

“Star Truk” rocker cover on the back doors. If anyone knows anything about this company, I’d love to hear about it…
