Heat indicates it's running lean or the timing is off. Since it didn't get driven a lot for a while, it's very possible the advance in the distributor has corroded and not working properly. Check the timing as well, don't rely on the timing tab unless you know for certain that TDC on the tab is really TDC on the engine, I've seen these off as much as 10 degrees. I worked in an auto machine shop for about 5 years, I saw very few heads with the exhaust seats beat out because of unleaded gas, it was almost always due to an engine that already had excessive wear and the fuel/timing wasn't right causing it to run lean and the excess heat is what brought about the damage.

Thanks will check timing .. The compression test prove that the seats are not the problem.. Plugs looked good when I pulled them.. Will be check distributor and timing next but still think that the gearing is the problem.. I got 3:23 gears and going to install around 3:90.. think that should do the trick... I hope.

Fred....3.90 and that engine will be screaming going down the road at 65 mph without overdrive. Personally I'd go with a 3.55 gear.
