Make sure your drive shaft is balanced....that could wear the front u joint and cause vibration.

Greetings Glenn;

Did the vibration start when you dropped the front end? There should be a 15 degree difference in the drivesahft angle. If it is too straight or angled too far it will cause a vibration. If the driveshaft is ballanced, you may want to check the pinion bearing.if the pinion is moving it will also cause a vibration and can also cause u-joint wear.

Vanner 40, You may have a bad torque converter. Lost its balance. Not knowing your van its also possible you slipped a tooth or 2 on your timing chain. The originals used a steel cog with nylon gears. It could also be bad high tension wires. Was it damp or raining when this happened? If you take the dog house off and run the van in the dark you can sometimes see the problem sparking from a wire or your dist. to ground. You might also want to check inside your dist. for carbon tracks. That would tell you its time to replace it, could be jumping inside. Also chech or listen for vacuum leaks, this could cause you vacuum advance from activating. Remember to work safe disconnect you batt. before elect work. Hope this helps. S.P.

Thanks for all the help. I just got it a month ago and starting to work on the motor end of it. My first thought was the torque converter, I had trouble with my last dodge there. I'm going to start with the simple first, tune up and down ward, I know I'll eventually find it, it's just nice having a little help, makes it easyier knowing some of the things to look for. I have no info on the van except the bull the guy told me when he sold it to me, ran great in the parking lot, on the open road is a different story now. I found a steering box and center link arm, now on to the motor, thanks guys.
