Tom is a solicitor of the Supreme Courts of New South Wales and Queensland and the High Court of Australia. Before joining Vannin, Tom was a Senior Associate in the Sydney office of Ashurst in their market leading insolvency team.
During his career, Tom has worked on some of the largest corporate collapses in Australian history, including the Octaviar Group and HIH Limited. Tom has broad experience advising in respect of all litigious aspects of insolvency proceedings, including voidable transaction, general law and statutory claims.
Tom also has extensive experience in general dispute resolution and advisory matters, with a particular focus on matters involving contractual disputes and complex financial instruments and securities. Tom has been involved in litigation at all levels of the Australian court system, including applications for special leave to the High Court of Australia and in respect of appeals to that Court.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts (extended double major in Political Science) and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons IIA) from the University of Queensland and is a professional member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA).
Tom is also a non-executive director of The Association of Litigation Funders of Australia, Australia’s peak body for the funding industry, which seeks to actively engage with government, legislators, regulators and other policy makers to shape the regulatory environment for litigation funding in Australia.
