Nick is an Isle of Man Advocate, a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales (non-practising) and solicitor of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. He heads up the DLA Group and is a director of Bramden Investments.
Prior to joining Vannin Capital, Nick was an equity partner at Appleby Global, an international offshore law firm with over 800 people in 12 different jurisdictions including Bermuda, Cayman, the three Crown Dependencies, Hong Kong, London and Mauritius. He was elected by the equity partners of Appleby to sit on the Group Management Company Board along with four other partners from around the group to represent members’ interests including the devising of the firm strategy.
His practice as a lawyer for over 20 years included being the Local Group Head for the Corporate and Commercial Team of Appleby Global in the Isle of Man. He was a member of the Corporate Finance and Insurance (life and captive) teams. His experience ranged from dealing with mergers and acquisitions, private equity and corporate governance issues, to multi-jurisdictional transactions including asset and structured finance.
Nick qualified as an Isle of Man advocate in 1994, is a Notary Public, a member of the International Bar Association and was Chairman, and then President, of the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce (2007-2011).
