With the current economy, I am hearing about many vanner's who lost their jobs and are looking for work, including me (maybe lol).

So here is a Forum to tell everyone where you are, what you can do , and if and where you can relocate.

I was employed by Philips Products based out of Elkhart, IN for 28 years. The plant closed down last year in my hometown and thus put me out of work. I was the Service and Warranty Manager. I handled all warranty claims that came through our plant. Shipping of warranty parts and setting up repair job. I had 2 service men that worked for me and numerous sub-contractors. I did order entry, invoicing, warranty entry, etc. Currently I am working as a sub-contractor going to homes and jobsites repairing and/or replacing windows and doors. I also do invoicing for a local contractor as well. Not able to relocate but interested in doing other similar jobs in the future. Presently working on healing an injury to my knee but should be able to work after the new year.

For the last 20 years I ran a retail/wholesale electronics store, developed security CCTV recorders, did in-person and phone customer support (A lot of the calls were Windows Software issues). Then the economy went south and the owner could no longer afford employees.
You know if the company you are applying to has health insurance and can figure out that you are over 50 yrs old (you might raise their rates) you will not stand a chance at getting an interview!
Currently I am looking for a inside sales or customer support job with weekends off. I am very technical minded and can learn any mechanical operation very quickly and have a photographical memory for numbers which greatly eases learning part numbers.
Also I could be a great wine steward!

I live in the greater Kansas City area and would not be able to relocate at the present time.

Once again, Im outta work, slow economy has put a hurtin on my last company, they gave mem a 12 week temp layoff with no guareentee of return. Hopefully things pick up for the trucking industry in the spring, I want to go back to
Con-way freight or at least some other quality carrier.

This just sucks. Not a whole lotta jobs out there to choose from right now.

I don't know how many people are in the pacific northwest but my wife runs the world famous ivar's seafood on lake washington and she will be hireing for the summer pretty soon.and if you are a good worker it will lead to a fulltime position.she will be looking for probably 10-15 people.
