That's some graphic carnage! I'm sure glad you caught that before it got even worse. How much metal do you think needs to be replaced under all that? Is the wheel arch OK? I'd think you'd have been able to smell a musty smell with that going on in there; bet you'll breathe easier now!
I had a leak at my rear cargo doors that caused similar damage to the original wood floor, but fortunately I caught it in time; the paint and metal was still OK. There was actually some kind of white fungus growing in the rotted wood! -Yuck!!
Are you going to splice in some new flooring to cover that area or do you think you'll replace all of it at once? I replaced all of mine at once to be sure I didn't have any fungus spores left over. With the corrugations in the floor, they could get around pretty easily. Even up towards the front I could smell some musty smell on the underside of the wood.
I coated all of the replacement wood with Thompson's Water Seal, which is used to preserve exterior wood decks. I figure it might make the flooring a bit less tasty to any future invaders... some of that "outside deck sealer" can be toxic, Its outside for a reason
