Finally got the motor running well today. Replaced a carb gasket and re-sealed the EGR blanking plate. Re gapped the plugs to 0.045" last week cos I'm running the MSD box and disconnected the vac advance.Also replaced a fried kickdown cable.There's still a bit more fine tuning to do and then onto the bodywork and interior.

As you can see the stance is a little front high. At first I thought this was cos it spent so much time up on jack stands and that eventually the springs would settle back down. Now I reckon that it's more down to me removing the A/C and the AIR pump and smog rubbish when I switched the motors. The motors themselves should weigh the same but the junk I removed has gotta weigh quite a bit. Should look OK once I put on the wheelarch flares and raise the back with air supension and bigger tyres.
