My old 85 ex-Air Force van had a /6 with, according to the underhood sticker, an A904HD.
More than likely your 87, because it was originally a /6, had a similar trans (or the A998 or A999).

well, i had to switch the yoke. So according to you Reed, makes it a 727. According to Ram4ever and his diagram in the "what did you do to your van" thread its a 904 by the shape of the pan. It doesnt really matter at this point, i have the yoke i need, i still need to figure out the shift linkage and run one heater hose still.

Its going well, hit one snag with the power steering line, So far the list of "yet to do" is
driveshaft
exhaust
shift linkage
speedo cable
heater hose
power steering
air cleaner modded
throttle linkage
trans fluid service
and im sure a hundred little details im forgetting.

Got quite a bit done today. Heres the pics. Heres the original equipment cigarette lighter.  new and improved space shuttle start button  My solution to the throttle linkage rod being too long. Cut 7 inches out of it and welded it back together.  Throttle linkage all in one piece and functional  Problem. Original yoke too small  Solution, get a bfh and snap ring pliers and fix it!
