Krass and Bernie van cutout

I don't know how many of you were fans of CARtoons magazine. As a kid in the early '80s, I caught the tail end of their legacy, and I thought it was the perfect combination of Mad magazine and Hot Rod. Plus, there were always art lessons, and some kind of cool extra iron-on or cardboard cutout. I was looking it up and found this great picture of one of their cutouts. Bernie doesn't look to happy, but check out his ride.

He needs to nail the throttle and dump that thing off the top! I loved CARtoons as a kid, so cool, even today if you ask me, wish they was still around!

Obviously the hot rod broke down and needs a ride home. Vanners are always first to help.

Remember the Odd-rods or Mod-rods cards that came with bubble gum like baseball cards? I might still have some of those somewhere.

THanks for sharing. I too caught the tail end of their legacy. I can remember witing with baited breath for every issue. Really tough to wait 2 months when you are 14!! LOL George Trosley is a cartoon Sensei. You can still spot his illustrations from time to time in Car magazine ads.
