Back in 97 ( I know this because I just found the receipt) I went to Pep Boys for tires on my 68 Chevy, which has a 350 and a 3 speed column shift- and a 4.11 posi (It's important, trust me)
Well, I'm sitting in the waiting room and the kid that went out to bring my van into the bay, walks past me looking kind of dazed. I look out the window and see my van has moved about 5 feet. Great, I think, wiring issues again and it died. I then see the manager go out, get in, start it up and drive it into the bay. Huh.
After they are done, I asked the manager what happened. Here's what he told me:
"I sent the kid out there to get your truck, and he comes back in and says somethings wrong with the trans, it wants to roll in park when he tries to start it. Damn kid never saw a column shift stick before and just jumped in and turned the key...."

My firt van was a 70 Dodge A-100.
I had a guy ask me what year my "VW" was. I just looked at him and smiled.
The van had the DODGE emblems on the front, but funny part was that I had big vinyl "DODGE VAN" letters on the windshield. D'oh!

I practically grew up in my parent's 63 and 61 Econolines. Both stock with the nearly foot high chrome FORD on the front.
On several occasions people would mistake it for a VW.
